[Announcement] LA Bitter Lemons' 'Operation: LemonHeadMeter' Kicks Off

* All content shamelessly pilfered from Bitter Lemons' Kickstarter page.

Help Los Angeles' most popular theater site, Bitter Lemons, create a user-review aggregator system known as the LemonHeadMeter.*

We've built a solid readership over the last five years, at least doubling our audience every year of our existence, accomplished purely on the strength of our voice, our hard work and our fearlessness. We thank you for helping us make that happen.

Now it's time for Bitter Lemons to take the next step in its evolution, but to make this transition we're going to need your help once again. $7500 worth of help.

The LemonMeter has become the most trusted resource in Los Angeles Theater, providing the most accurate snapshot of a production's quality through the aggregation of professional theater reviews, now we want to add a user-generated element to that mix, we're calling it:

The LemonHeadMeter.

Helmed since 2008 by Editor-in-Chief, Colin Mitchell, Publisher, Enci Box, recently joined by Operations Manager, Philip M. Devin, and now enlisting the aid of master technician and Hollywood Fringe Festival Director, Ben Hill, the time for Bitter Lemons to breathe life into the LemonHeadMeter is now.

And that is where the $7500 comes in. The money will allow us to develop and create an exciting new LemonHeadMeter Mobile Application.

The LemonHeadMeter will live right alongside the LemonMeter on Bitter Lemons showing how the critical consensus of the audience compares with that of the professionals, adding yet another layer of opinion that will offer you, the consumer, an even more dynamic depiction of a show's quality before you decide to go and see it.

The LemonHeadMeter will be a joint venture between the Bitter Lemons' Team and the architect of the Hollywood Fringe site, Ben Hill. Much of the framework of the LemonHeadMeter App will parallel the design used for the Hollywood Fringe App:

The App will be created simultaneously and in conjunction with a streamlined re-design of the Bitter Lemons site and will allow both to fit seamlessly together. The final result will be a more interactive, exciting and efficient Bitter Lemons Experience for every LemonHead now and for years to come.

Ultimately, The LemonHeadMeter will make it easier for every member of the LemonHeadNation to more fully participate in the ongoing experiment that is Bitter Lemons: Bringing Theater TogetherWhether It likes it or Not.

Risks and Challenges

It seems easy enough. Get a big idea, make a mobile app, change the world, straightforward and simple, right? We wish...

In taking this next big step in our evolution by creating the LemonHeadMeter, we need to be constantly looking at the needs of our users, our audience, what does the LemonHeadNation want to see in a mobile app - aesthetically and technically speaking - and how do we do what needs to be done within the confines of our own technical capabilities?

We want to create a fresh and creative way for our LemonHeads to interact with our site, with each other, adding valuable content and having easy access to all the features of Bitter Lemons.

One challenge will be in the area of temperance; not trying to over do it, knowing our limitations, keeping the app simple so that we don't unknowingly create delays in the launch or lose our main purpose of serving you, the LemonHeadNation, in a swamp of technical modifications.

Performance and usability will also be key to the success of our LemonHeadMeter app, understanding that our main goal is keeping the LemonHeadNation active, engaged, making sure that we continue to grow and thrive in conjunction with our audience, not in spite of them.

Perhaps our biggest challenge will be keeping the first iteration of the app simple and convenient, delivering the right information when and where you want it, providing a mechanism for your voice to be heard and shared, updating and delivering new user-focused features frequently and consistently in a way that we hope will be to the enduring delight of the LemonHeadNation.

With your help - and only with your help - we can get this done and we believe the LemonHeadMeter could revolutionize every aspect of Los Angeles Theater and beyond.
